In the Fall of 1998, a drug dealer from Boston is found dead, several states away in a coastal town in Connecticut. Though the cause of death is initially ruled a suicide, the FBI office in Boston demands to be shown the body for examination, as the man had once been a confidential informant for the Bureau, who suspects a mob hit. The FBI autopsy reveals the bizarre state of the man's insides, almost melted. The case comes across A-Cell's desk, the state of the man's corpse, and the detail that in his final months he had moved to Connecticut to join an "Alternative Medicine Research Group" convinces them to launch an investigation.  

WIDOWMAKERS was one the first full-length scenarios that I wrote and ran for Delta Green. It has evolved over three iterations into the scenario it is now, the playtest for which actually sparked my ongoing Belli Occulta campaign. 

It began life initially as a really hollow knock-off of the Sowers cult from the Labyrinth, but was given new life as a 90s scenario. I decided to finally get around to completing the writeup for them. So here it is. Hope you enjoy. It is split over six posts that more or less cover the breadth of the entire scenario, linked below. 

  1. PART ONE - Introduces and sets the stall for the scenario, also covers the agent's briefing in Boston and autopsy of Aaron Spaniard. 
  2. PART TWO - Covers the investigation of Spaniard's background and the Universal Alignment class in Boston. 
  3. PART THREE - Covers the introduction to the town of Wehring, Connecticut, where Universal Alignment is headquartered, some of the towns history, and what the agents can glean from interviewing the coroner who first examined Aaron Spaniard's remains, and some of the danger he poses. 
  4. PART FOUR - Details your agents' investigation of Universal Alignment and its personnel, as well as a report of a failed Delta Green operation from years before with some strange connections to the group. 
  5. PART FIVE - Covers three important NPCs the agents can run into and align themselves with (or against): A sorcerous antiquarian and relentless con-artist, a retired Greek orthodox priest and armchair occultist, and a fifth column embedded in the enemy operation. 
  6. PART SIX - details a fortified military complex outside of Wehring where unspeakable expeirments take place, and several ways of fomenting the collapse of Universal Alignment and the designs of its masters - though with potentially disastrous consequences.

  One evening in April 2023 I decided to run a game. It would be a month from then, once I had returned from the UK and could run Delta Green again. The scenario was "Widowmakers", a brand-new rendition of the scenario, version 3. The first two didn't satisfy me. The changes I made for version 3 were to wind the clock back to 1997 and include Majestic-12 as the overarching villains for the scenario.  I ran it with some people I hardly new and by the end of the scenario I was convinced I wanted to run a campaign with them. The Skoptsi: an Expansion

The Skoptsi are one of my favorite factions in Delta Green, and in my home game, I featured them as the primary villain for a brief storyline featuring one of my cells. The reports on their investigations can be found in previous posts. In the interest of sharing my opinions, and perhaps encouraging other handlers to feature them in their 90s / 2000s Delta Green game, I decided it would be worth it to share my experiences with the Skoptsi, how I flavor them, how I roleplay them, and some missions / setpieces I've featured in my home game's efforts against the vile Cult of the Magna Mater.
