Benno Wertheim, Karotechia Bischofe, Guest of the Propavsheye

Benno Wertheim was recruited to the Karotechia cause in 1978 by Dr. Olaf Bitterich. His grandfather was an officer of the Ahnenerbe SS during the Second World War who had helped translate numerous scriptures from old Gothic and Latin into modern German. Wertheim had inherited his father's wealth and some of his notes, which puzzled him and filled with curiosity that later bloomed into obsession.  Wertheim was quickly won over to the Karotechia cause, and after being instructed in esoterica by Dr. Bitterich and made one of the twelve Bischofe, he was put to work collecting and researching the work of various alchemists and occult scholars across Europe. What he uncovered often overlapped with the research of Dr. Gunter Franks, and the two occasionally met to compare notes (and, for Wertheim, to spy on Franks for Bitterich).  When the Karotechia was dismantled in 2001 by the combined forces of the Americans and the Russians, Wertheim found himself in the living custody of the Pr...

The Collectors of the Long Vaults

Image
Foreword As it pertains to another writeup I'm in the process of writing, I wanted to link Tormsen's writeup for the Collectors of the Long Vaults, a faction idea he cooked up and posted to the old Delta Green website many years ago, but, at the time of writing, is only accessible through the Wayback Machine. Seeing that it might be easier to link something on my blog, seeing that I'm not sure how "permanent" web addresses for the Wayback Machine are, I asked Tormsen if he'd be okay with me sharing his writeup here, to which he agreed. So here it is: The Collectors of the Long Vaults By David Tormsen.  In the year 5000 AD, a terrible empire known as Tsan-Chan will rule over much of what is now Asia, and possibly beyond. This will be a time when the awkward and energy-intensive practice of mechanical science has been abandoned in lieu of a rediscovery of sorcery and magic (not to mention human labor). Tsan-Chan is ruled by a caste of immortal Kuen-yuin high pri...

SHOTGUN CONTEST 2024: Reviews.

Image
This is going to be my attempt to read and review as many entries from the 2024 shotgun contest as possible. This contest has become notorious in past years for the sheer volume of entries, so I will be trying to read these and give my honest thoughts on them as they are sent in. So yeah. Fun. This isn't following any sort of metric of guideline and is just what my thoughts on the scenarios.  I eventually got burnt out of reading all of these entries, and don't really feel inclined to read more. sooooo here's the damage: THE POLYGRAPH I found the polygraph to be an interesting setpiece, and it's a rare one. I always appreciate Delta Green scenarios that are "mundane" in that aliens or zombies or monsters are not present, but still play up the cloak-and-dagger conspiracy angle of the game. This really did it. I think this is a very nice little scenario to throw at agents to really make them squirm, and I can see Miller and Tanya being persistent nuisances to ag...
