Fields they are in Modesto, California. He asks Lt. Fields benign questions about his injuries, about the blast and ensuing fire that consumed the fortified cabin of the Bear Flag Republic's leader, Ronald Pringle. Fields asks after the condition of his cohort. They assure him all his fine, him and Gaultier sustained only superficial burns and injuries, Copeland was injured by shrapnel and has required surgery, which she is undergoing presently. It’s strange, it should hurt a lot more than it does, or he should at least feel that warm haze of morphine, but no. He feels fine. This might be in their official capacity as federal agents, or it might be A-Cell being proactive, as the perpetrators are members of the Bear Flag Republic, a white supremacist militia that Delta Green suspects of being connected to the Karotechia. When manifestos taking responsibility for the attack begin being mailed to television and radio news stations across the state, it quickly becomes apparent that the situation is worse than anyone first believed.   In the Modesto motel room, Avery Fields (VICTOR), Emerson Copeland (VERDANCE), and Charlotte Gaultier (WAXER) devise their plan.  The murders at the Stockton NPR station are being pinned on the Bear Flag Republic (BFR), Delta Green is working behind the scenes to make sure that story sticks. Right now, V-Cell needs to focus on locating and eliminating Ronald Pringle aka Horst Jaeger, the leader of the BFR. They have this place of permanent residence, but its known that he doesn't really live there, instead choosing to hide out in his fortified cabin somewhere in the mountains. 10 May 1999 Following information discovered by Special Agent Jean Qualls in her "interrogation" of Werner Linz, a sorcerer of the Karotechia, V-Cell learned of an ongoing operation in the city of New Orleans, Karotechia operatives part of the "Basilisk Group" militia were ordered to attempt to seize an "item of high significance" to the Karotechia in the possession of one Abigail Wright of New Orleans.  Delta Green tapped a Friendly to perform a cursory investigation and discovered that Wright had been missing since February, and that the Basilisk Group had already made a brutish and unsuccessful attempt at claiming this "item of significance" from her apartment. Moreover, the discovery of an occult symbol affiliated with demonology found in Wright's apartment by the Friendly indicated that something strange and unnatural was indeed at hand.
