WIDOWMAKERS: Master Post

Image
In the Fall of 1998, a drug dealer from Boston is found dead, several states away in a coastal town in Connecticut. Though the cause of death is initially ruled a suicide, the FBI office in Boston demands to be shown the body for examination, as the man had once been a confidential informant for the Bureau, who suspects a mob hit. The FBI autopsy reveals the bizarre state of the man's insides, almost melted. The case comes across A-Cell's desk, the state of the man's corpse, and the detail that in his final months he had moved to Connecticut to join an "Alternative Medicine Research Group" convinces them to launch an investigation.   WIDOWMAKERS was one the first full-length scenarios that I wrote and ran for Delta Green. It has evolved over three iterations into the scenario it is now, the playtest for which actually sparked my ongoing Belli Occulta campaign.  It began life initially as a really hollow knock-off of the Sowers cult from the Labyrinth, but was give...

WIDOWMAKERS - Part Six

Hey all, apologies about the delay. Got very busy and then distracted. here it is, the last installment of WIDOWMAKERS. Enjoy. Juvenile Brood of Eihort statblock is from 'Love Bug' by Mellonbread. SATURN SALOON Nike Missile Site HA-33 was sold by the Department of Defense Drummond Dynamics, a subsidiary of March Technologies, in the late 1980s. The Department of Defense was happy to let it go, as their alternatives would be to sell it to the State of Connecticut, who weren't very interested in buying back a small plot of land and being saddled with all the legal liability that came with a decommissioned missile launch site. As far as anyone knows, it is a storage annex for March Technologies, a well-connected and wealthy defense technology contractor. The site's missile batteries were disassembled and the facilities were expanded to accommodate a fully-furnished bio-lab, its researchers, and security personnel. It is staffed by a team of 7 March Technologies researchers...

WIDOWMAKERS - Part Five

The Occultist Agents thumbing through the 1990 TABLE DANCER report will no doubt raise an eyebrow at the mention of a certain occultist that the original Delta Green team had dog-eared as a potential asset in their investigation. An occultist and antiquarian running a small antiques shop in the Dorchester neighborhood by the name of Bernice Cartfield.  Preliminary investigation into Cartfield reveals that she's originally a Floridian, and studied fine arts in Tallahassee before moving North in the late 1980s. Her business is well-regarded and has encountered very little in the way of legal trouble. Inquiries made through Boston law enforcement about Cartfield reveal that she is thought to be cordial and cooperative by the Sheriff's department, with whom she had offered her consultation regarding a rash of voodoo-themed gang violence in 1993.  Any inquiries to A-Cell reveal that beyond the TABLE DANCER's mention in the 1990 report, A-Cell knows essentially nothing about Cart...

WIDOWMAKERS - Part Four

Investigating Universal Alignment The threads lead here. The details surrounding Universal Alignment will paint a broader picture of what Delta Green is dealing with, and will eventually point them to the true source of the horror in Wehring.  The Campus The campus is a large complex that was formerly a christian youth summer camp operated outside of Wehring. See ' Gethsemane Christian Youth Centre ' in ' Widowmakers Pt. 3 ' for further details on its acquisition by Universal Alignment. Under Universal Alignment's stewardship, little has been changed with the camp. Its only entrance is a gravel road that leads to a gate. The land around the camp is not fenced off, though canny agents will note that trail cameras are installed in high trees as you get closer to the campus. Agents who are trained in stealth infiltration will be able, with time and caution, to avoid them and get as far as the treeline. Agents may also get a good vantage of the Campus by hiking a near...

WIDOWMAKERS - Part Three

Widowmakers A Delta Green Scenario by Fee Fi Fo Fin Part 3. Welcome to Wehring, Connecticut Wehring, Connecticut , is a small coastal town perched on the shores of the Long Island Sound. It was founded in the 1800s primarily by Irish settlers looking to make a living by fishing the waters of the Sound. Since the 1950s, its population has hovered around 1200-1500. It has a United church and a Catholic church, a couple stores, a post office, a seafood restaurant, a motel, a sports good shop that mostly sells gear for fishing and duck-hunting, and other small-town essentials. The Coast Guard has a station up the coast by 10 miles.  Agents investigating the history of the town will not find anything extravagant or obviously pertaining to the mythos, no witch-cults or satanic murder sprees or vagrants barging into church hollering about drowned gods. Agents who take lots of time to study the town's history, or who specifically state they're looking for a history with the U.S Milit...
