This was actually the first scenario we made in Microscope but I'm posting it second. Sue me. 

ADAM'S RIB

This was our first scenario, so we were trying to feel it out as we went along. I'm quite happy with the result, though I'll probably run a version set in the 2000s while the agents are dealing with G.A.P and Tiger Transit because that's something I wanna do soon. We also did flub up the lore a little. G.A.P is written as having gone under, when in the canon its actually thriving. I didn't think it was really that important but be aware of that, you canon purists.

In this scenario, the agents are called to investigate some weird activity in Atlanta. A youtube video is circulating online of a man standing near the treeline of a swamp outside Atlanta in the middle of the night. In the video, the voice of a child repeating the same phrase in the exact same way can be heard coming from out of the swamp. In the video description, the man claims the voice is of his little brother, who had gone missing in those swamps a few years earlier, though he claims the voice "wasn't Zachary's". This coincides with an uptick in suspected gator attacks on local wildlife in that area, as well as the inexplicable re-emergence of several endangered species of insect and plant endemic to that area over the last year. 

The culprit of the scenario is "Daphne", a young Haedi Nigritiae that was born in a Genetical Agricultural Products laboratory as part of a contract G.A.P had made with the Georgia Department of Agriculture and the Atlanta Botanical Gardens to use gene splicing and cloning technology to create female and male variants of the Encephalartos woodii, a rare species of Cycad. The experiment ultimately proved a failure, and eventually G.A.P had to report a failure to create a viable clone. 

Of course, it wasn't because they couldn't make a healthy clone of the Cycad. It was being the thing they created wasn't just a cycad at all. This experiment was done in the 2000s, at a home when G.A.P researchers were beginning to form a miniature cult around the Milk of Shub-Niggurath for its seemingly limitless potential at unlocking the secrets of terrestrial life. Their experiment eventually made use of limited amounts of the Milk of Shub-Niggurath to expedite results, and what was borne from that exposure was something that was very much alive in a way trees normally aren't. This living, sapient tree was nicknamed "Daphne" and kept for further study, eventually becoming the singular obsession of Lead Researcher Dr. Carl Harris. Dr. Harris, in his adoration of Daphne, brought his daughter, Penelope, to "play" with the living plant, and Daphne imprinted on the both of them, both psychologically and literally (Daphne "marked" them with a scent hormone that is undetectable to most living creatures, but has never left her even after 15 yeras and was eventually passed through Dr. Harris' wife to his son). 

Eventually, GAP was facing insolvency, and in the bureaucratic shuffle, Daphne was left to flourish alone in a greenhouse in the outskirts of Atlanta, where it continued to grow and feed and evolve. Eventually, Daphne escaped, and has begun to prey on animals - and people - in the swamps outside Atlanta. It also absorbed the corpse of its creator, Dr. Harris, and begun to stalk the late doctor's family, including his daughter (now a successful biochemist), his wife, who has been immobilized by a stroke, and their teenage son, a precocious son that might be more than first meets the eye.

IMPORTANT CHARACTERS / ENTITIES

THE HARRIS FAMILY

• DR. CARL HARRIS, A botanist working for Genetic Agricultural Products and the Lead researcher in the Cycad cloning program. Harris was exposed to "Mother's Milk" by handling the substance in GAP labs, and the Mother's Milk that Daphne was eventually able to produce on her own. This exposure, which he then passed to the rest of his family, eventually caused him to develop syphillis, which forced his family to remand him to an assisted living facility where he eventually died. Dr. Harris' corpse was exhumed by Daphne and brought back the disused GAP greenhouse she called home. 
• MARIA HARRIS, The wife of the late Dr. Harris. She lost much of her ability and personality after a severe stroke that has left her wheelchair bound and catatonic for the better half of 15 years. However, the trace amounts of mother's milk in her system (thanks to accidental exposure through her husband) allowed her brain to partially heal, and while she may seem harmless, within her is an extremely deadly potential. Potential, which if allowed to interact directly with Daphne, will be realized. Daphne has the power to "awaken" the mother's milk in her brain and blood. This will rejuvenate Maria, but then it will change her, and the mutant mother will begin to obsessively defend her children against all outsiders - including your agents. 
• PENELOPE HARRIS, Penelope Harris is a biochemist who has largely written off her experiences from childhood with Daphne as the products of an overactive imagination. Unbeknownst to her, her exposure to Daphne was very real and very present in her life. She emits a scent chemical that allows Daphne to track her, and she does. Daphne is bonded to Penelope as a cat is to its owner, and anyone that Daphne perceives as threatening Penelope will face a death beyond their wildest imagination. 
• JEREMIAH HARRIS, Jeremiah is a precocious young boy who is teachers believe is destined for greatness. He's a prodigy at the piano and excels in every study he's put to. He's also a mutant thanks to his parents exposure to Mother's Milk. His mutations express themselves subtly, however. He's able to detect the "scent marker" on his mother and sister, and he intuitively knows when Daphne is around. Curiously, in his mind, he associates Daphne with his family in a way he hasn't really thought about much. Like his sister, Daphne ruthlessly and brutally guards her "little brother". 

CIVILIANS

• RORY HOLLIS, a paranoiac ex-con and maintenance worker at the graveyard where Carl Harris was buried. He's the only person who has seen Daphne in the flesh and lived to tell the tale - and he's way too fucking scared to leave his apartment since that experience. He can't stay there forever, and its only a matter of time before Atlanta PD, investigating the robbery of Dr. Harris' grave, come asking questions. That could cause problems, seeing that Hollis very much has a pistol and is very much not intent on leaving his apartment for any reasons. 
• AARON BOUDREAU, has been living with tragedy for the better part of a year ever since his 8-year-old brother Zachary went missing in a patch of swampland North of Atlanta. He's considered taking that youtube video he posted down, because thinking about it makes him furious. Whatever it was in that swamp wasn't his little brother, but it sounded exactly like him. Like a recording. The anger and the heartbreak is going to drive him to go back to that swamp sooner rather than later with a flashlight and a gun, and it'll end in him joining his brother as Daphne claims her next meal. 

HORRORS

• DAPHNE, Daphne is a young Haedi Nigritiae borne of GAP's laboratory experiments with using Mother's Milk to stimulate plant growth. She's made some adjustments to her own biology that make her an exceptionally deadly predator. She has bafflingly complex vocal muscles that allow her to almost perfectly imitate any sound she encounters, she can permanently mark other living beings with a scent marker that encodes itself into their genetics, and she's developed a Hunter's Organ like those found in electric eels, which she uses to stun prey that venture in the swampy waters where she hunts. 
• THE HIEROPHANT, Formerly Dr. Harris. The Hierophant is borne of the mother's milk-infected plantlife in Daphne's lair spreading into and reactivating the biological structures in Dr. Harris' corpse. It isn't the doctor, not really. It's a gestalt of the mutated plants in the greenhouse and the doctor's half-decayed brain. A living, blossoming, rotting, flowering, priest of Shub-Niggurath.
