STUTTER

The third and latest Delta Green scenario made by me and bird using Microscope. In my opinion, we wound up with something a little overcomplex for its own good. But who cares. Here's the link to the google sheet for all three.

STUTTER

In the 1950s, Delta Green launched Operation KRYPTON in response to the disappearance of some Americans in Greenland coinciding with a "birdstrike" incident at Thule AFB that the pilot swore up and down "wasn't a bird", and which left a viscous, clear "jelly" smeared across the front of his aircraft. Eventually MAJESTIC-12 was also brought in, and it remained one of the few times the two agencies actually worked alongside one another, even if only at arm's length. Through photographic intelligence collected by spy-plane and satellite, and the efforts of Delta Green's investigators. The cause of the bird strike and the strange disappearances was discovered to be some sort of semi-transluscent, semi-immaterial alien that had built a nest in the frozen wastes miles into the Greenlandish interior.

The operation was considered a failure that produced more questions than answers, least of all due to the appearance of a strange figure dubbed "The Tin-Man" in after-action reports - a man wearing a "weird flightsuit" and "gas mask" that broke onto Thule AFB and tried to gain access to the pilot involved in the "birdstrike" incident. The man was confronted by Air Force security and chased off-base, but not before electrocuting several officers with his gloves. A week later, the pilot and several other base personnel vanished. All of whom were close to the pilot after his birdstrike incident, with the exception of those the Tin-Man electrocuted during his attack. Delta Green agents later received cryptic phonecalls containing clues from an anonymous caller they eventually theorized to be the Tin-Man. Despite his apparent desire to aid their efforts, the Steering Committee's orders were to capture or kill the man, as they suspected him of being a soviet spy. When they eventually tracked him down to a weather station near Thule, they tried to do just that. The shootout that ensued ended with several wounded agents and the "Tin-Man" vanishing in a flash of blue-white light.

Twenty years later, and Delta Green (in the early years of what will later be known as the "Cowboy" era) receive a tip. Something similar is happening again. Reports by some old Delta Green contacts in the area have reported the same viscuous, clear "jelly" being discovered on roofs of houses and cars in and around Thule AFB. What's more, some locals are reporting sightings of the Tin-Man again. Veterans from Operation KRYPTON want their fucking answers, and nobody's going to stop them from going back and getting them.

What's really going on is a distant ripple of Operation RAINBOW and the efforts of the MAJESTIC to deactive the Tillinghast Resonator onboard the USS Eldridge in 2012. One of the specially trained, specially equipped operators from that operation was sent back in time to the 1950s along with a detached piece of the Eldridge's radio tower, which had jammed itself into the Greenland ice. What's also come back with them is the Broodmother, a liquivore that is able to maintain its own T-Radiation field, and thus keep itself coherent in our universe for limited periods of time. The radio tower, the Liquivore, and the operative, one Lieutenant Emil Corcoran of the US Navy SEALs.

MAJESTIC bombed the radio tower in the 1950s, but they fragments were degaussed (Lt. Corcoran's gunfight with Delta Green stopped that from happening, and forced him to activate a failsafe - escaping again into N-Space and re-emerging in Greenland when the radio tower fragments had built up enough charge to open into N-Space again. This time in the 1970s.

So, as of the 1970s, your cowboy agents arrive just as Lt. Corcoran, injured from his gunfight in the 1950s, is emerging into our reality. Is plan is give the agents enough leads that they can hunt down and kill the Liquivore, and discover his N-Space suit so that they can safely approach and degauss the radio tower fragments still out there on the ice.

IMPORTANT CHARACTERS / ENTITIES

LOCALS
  • TED DOUGAN, a USAF meteorologist. Found and collected some of the Broodmother's "eggs" (the clear, viscous jelly its spraying everywhere) and kept it in his home to give to his friend, Dean Coolie. Dougan later is sent to hospital after a car crash caused by T-Radiation "destroying" mechanical components in his car, causing him to lose control and crash. Dougan is a clue for the agents to look into, as he's been exposed to T-Radiation and lived, and can point them to other leads. He also remembers the 1950s incident, including the Tin-Man's break-in on base.
  • DEAN COOLIE, an Army doctor. He was given a sample collected by Dougan of the "jelly" for him to study. Little does he know, the jelly emits a small amount of T-Radiation, and that soon, the eggs in that jelly are going to hatch, and they're going to be very, very hungry.
MAJESTIC
  • LT. EMIL CORCORAN, A MAJESTIC operative from the future trying to set events right. He no longer thinks he's going to be getting back to the future, and he's trying to make peace with that however he can. Corcoran was injured by DG during their gunfight in the 50s, but his N-Space protective suit is still in working condition, and so his plan is to guide the Delta Green team he's been told will come to Greenland to investigate the Liquivore into finding his suit and using it to purge the radio tower of its T-Radiation once and for all.
HORROR
  • THE LIQUIVORE BROODMOTHER, a rare and horrifying liquivore from N-Space, resembling an enourmous siphonophore. The Broodmother produces its eggs by spraying them in a viscuous jelly. The broodmother, and its brood, have the unique property of being able to maintain their own T-Radiation field even in our reality. Whether this is an evolutionary feature or a fluke is likely something the agents will never be able to learn.
