Image
Part One: " Strange Men Come to Monument " December 1998. Norfolk, Virginia.  In a meeting room at Naval Station Norfolk, FBI Special Agent Sasha Rozenstruik waits. An invitation was given to her by her supervisor, heavily classified and evidently handed down from very high up in the Bureau. It summoned her here. Finally, the door unlatches and a cadre of seven men, three in suits and four in officer's uniforms - she spies colonels, majors, captains - enter.  They commend her for her work while assigned to Task Force Nemesis, and its efforts to pursue and persecute the international human trafficking ring known as the Dorian Grey Society, alongside FBI Agents Trevor Bloom and Adrian Walck. Likewise they commend herfor her cooperation later aiding Bloom and Walck and Air Force Office of Special Investigations Agent Catherine Connelly in their investigation of "outbreak" in Brattleboro, Vermont. Open Mic Night Pt. 2: An Evening at Club Apocalypse.

Image
Late Summer, 1999 It's 6 o'clock in the afternoon on a saturday, and even at 4:30, there were people lined up at the door to Club Apocalypse. Young people in leather BDSM-style gear and men in suits smoking on the sidewalk, neither group intermingling, likely the two variants of patron at Club Apocalypse. Agents Imogen, Irena, and Isaac stand near the top of the stairs descending from street level to the entrance to the club, Imogen concealed under a heavy disguise.  Eventually the line shuffles down and they're confronted by the Club security, who recognize them and let them in. They sit at the bar and drink, one is passed a note telling them to come to the door to the Green Bar once the band starts their set. On saturdays, the house band for Club Apocalypse plays - Charnel Dreams. They don't see any Men in Black - Adolph Lepus and his two NRO DELTA goons are nowhere to be seen, nor are the strange grey-skinned Men in Black that accosted the agents the last time they...

The Cannibal

A piece of microfiction inspired by my playthrough of God's Teeth.  He had been imagining the island: blue sky, white sand, the children in their togas, the masked priests and their knives and masks in the likeness of animals - invokers of an invisible power, priests of a hidden god. His mind often wandered there. He had never been, obviously. But he would try his best to construct it in his mind, always resembling something akin to a Greek isle - what he imagined a Greek isle would look like, informed by google images, by the half-a-dozen rewatches of Mama Mia! he indulged (endured) for the woman who would later become his wife when she was in college and he was just starting out flying helicopters. It might have been a nice place. Maybe. But he knew better. Blood rites happened there in service to the horrors he aids The Program in destroying, death was there, hate was there, the children were there too, mute and mutilated and serene, as was the cruelty that molded them. The chil...

He studies the remains of "Aquatic Humanoids" recovered by a Delta Green operation in South Vietnam.  20 March 1980: Aloysius and Susan Gowdie of Brooklyn, New York, suddenly vanish. Their daughter, Amber, is discovered two days later by a truancy officer and relocated to St. Elizabeth's Girl's Home, an orphanage run by the Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn.  26 May, 1980 : Only two months after Amber’s arrival, the Diocese of Brooklyn receives an urgent request from Sister Catherine Pruitt to have an exorcism performed on Amber Gowdie. Priests Casimir Szary and Peter Rozsavolgyi are sent to perform the ritual. During the exorcism, the two priests witness horrific and explicable things, and discover the occult power of "The Shape", a strange bauble worn on a necklace by Gowdie. The exorcism is ultimately a success. Neither priest ever perf...
