EVERY MAN AND WOMAN IS A STAR

This is a reimagining of Caleb Stokes' cancelled Delta Green scenario "Language of the Stars".

I considered writing a whole scenario, but that seemed like a waste of time because this really is just replacing and adding important characters and not meaningfully rewriting any of the mechanics.

According to Stokes the reason the scenario has been cancelled is because of overwhelmingly negative feedback from playtesters on the timeline mechanic that the scenario hinges on, which is a shame in my opinion because I found the timeline mechanic inobstrusive and lended a real sense of pace to the scenario that I haven't really seen elsewhere. Oh well.

The primary difference between my version and the original is what Labyrinth faction is involved. Instead of the Dream Syndicate, it's the Sowers.

The Sowers in Language of the Stars.

Isaac Fletcher is a Deacon of the Sowers, his loving wife is Halimah Jassim, a girl he knew from college who became enamoured with Fletcher's suddenly beaming charisma, and who, despite having once been a strong-willed young woman, has been...eroded. Her willpower has been ground down by Fletcher's use of the Ritual "Bound to Jesus", and an unfruitful attempt at having a child only pushed her down even more. Jassim had been a student of archaeology and anthropology, and before dropping out of university and eventually being picked up by Fletcher, she had developed an interest in the Empire of Kesh and its mysteries.

Although it hadn't been addressed publicly. Mark Brand was aware of the issue of miscarriages that plagued the Sowers. In consultation with his patron, Azazel. Brand was pointed towards an item of significant power that, according to Azazel, could heal this issue, an antique prayer bowl of unknown origin in the possession of one Tomas Drennon. Azazel likewise referred Brand to the expertise of Halimah Jassim.

After speaking with Jassim and Fletcher, Brand gave them their assignment: to find Tomas Drennon and to collect the bowl for the Sowers.

Fletcher had told Jassim he would simply buy the bowl from Drenon, though he had no interest in doing this. Fletcher approached Drennon and used his supernatural charisma to gain entry into his home, where he then shot Drennon dead and took the bowl. Confident in the assignment's success, they retired to the AirBnB they had rented in Las Animas, Colorado.

Emboldened by the act of violence and the promise of creating new life, finally. Fletcher and Jassim decided to use the bowl in a ritual to give them a child. Jassim, who had known of and researched the artifact long before Brand ever approached her about it, knew the ritual well. Or...At least she thought she did.

What she mistook for a fertility ritual was really a ritual to usher in a vessel of Qu'Tugkwa or Kesh to earth in a tantric ritual. When Fletcher and Jassim performed the ritual themselves, the results were devastatin. Jassim became an avatar of Qu'Tugkwa and consumed her husband before setting off into the night, and this is when the agents come in.

Jerry Fredericks and David Baker

So, aside from a change to the circumstances of the hook, the scenario incorporates two additional changes.

One is that by 2:00 Pm on the first day, Mark Brand hears the bad news and sends Jerry Fredericks, another Deacon, to investigate. Fredericks flies to Colorado Springs and is received by Sowers in the city who house him and point him where to go. He relies on his supernatural charisma to weasel his way into the investigation, eventually leaning the names of the agents and deciding he needs to secure the bowl before they do (especially if this isn't the Sowers' first encounter with D.G).

Additionally, instead of a weird neo-nazi, David Baker is an Aspirant of the Sowers who failed the test to become a Deacon. He left Gary and has been living on his father's farm in South Dakota. For one reason or another, the Sowers haven't deigned it necessary to kill Baker just yet. Baker and Jassim were a thing before she married Fletcher. Jassim contacts him and beelines for his farm, when the Sowers learn this, they re-direct Jerry Fredericks to intercept and kill both.
