 Radicals - Operation PALINDROME



This one I recently ran for my Wednesday group to great success, but the sandbox nature of it means that it would really just turn into a giant writeup of setpieces and "what ifs" that frankly I'm not interested in penning, not to mention that the setting for this would require a lot of research I honestly don't have the interest to do.

In August, 2000. A confidential report inside the FBI's organized crime task force crosses the desk of Matthew Carpenter, Deputy Director of the FBI and Agent ADAM of A-Cell. The report details continued arms smuggling into the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland by the Irish Mob post-Goof Friday Agreement. A testimony given by confidential informant is what raises eyebrows. The informant claims to have attended a sit-down mediated by an ex-fixer of the PIRA (Provisional Irish Republican Army) between the Irish Mob and a delegate from the Army of the Third Eye. Having just recovered from the Embassy Row Massacre, Delta Green is cautiously eager to make contact with the Army, if indeed its really them. The agents are activated to Operation PALINDROME and ordered to 1. confirm the identity of the Army of the Third Eye's delegates and their legitimacy, 2. make contact with the Army and open a line of communication and 3. arrange for a continued partnership in Delta Green's covert efforts against PISCES. 

Your agents can:
  • Investigate "Buttercup", the PIRA fixer mediating the deal, infiltrate an agent into the deal by having them pose an an urban guerilla looking for work. If Buttercup trusts you, of course. 
  • Devise a secure method of making contact with the obsessively paranoid Army of the Third Eye involving the arms deal that won't completely freak them out. 
  • Engage in a cold war-esque game of meeting with delegates and cut-outs, conducting talks piecemeal with the Army on a continued partnership. 
  • Work to assure the Army's security in Northern Ireland from PISCES, as well as generic MI-5 investigation. 
  • Navigate the inter-army politics between the gung-ho militant Thomas Cuthbertson and the cautious Karen Carter. 
  • Use the new alliance to kidnap and trepan Waltar Wade, a retired SAS paratrooper, now PISCES Internal Affairs officer, and host to an Insect from Shaggai. They may even attempt to use footage of the trepanning to flip PISCES agents in the future to your cause.

BELLI OCCULTA: Introduction

  One evening in April 2023 I decided to run a game. It would be a month from then, once I had returned from the UK and could run Delta Green again. The scenario was "Widowmakers", a brand-new rendition of the scenario, version 3. The first two didn't satisfy me. The changes I made for version 3 were to wind the clock back to 1997 and include Majestic-12 as the overarching villains for the scenario.  I ran it with some people I hardly new and by the end of the scenario I was convinced I wanted to run a campaign with them. So we did. We ran "Speak of the Devil" and many, many more. I was interested in going against what was established in the expanded lore of the Delta Green Handler's Guide, and to have the actions of the players influence the outcome of the story, and how things would ultimately shape up. WIDOWMAKERS: Master Post

In the Fall of 1998, a drug dealer from Boston is found dead, several states away in a coastal town in Connecticut. Though the cause of death is initially ruled a suicide, the FBI office in Boston demands to be shown the body for examination, as the man had once been a confidential informant for the Bureau, who suspects a mob hit. The FBI autopsy reveals the bizarre state of the man's insides, almost melted. The case comes across A-Cell's desk, the state of the man's corpse, and the detail that in his final months he had moved to Connecticut to join an "Alternative Medicine Research Group" convinces them to launch an investigation.   WIDOWMAKERS was one the first full-length scenarios that I wrote and ran for Delta Green.
